Last week when Westminster was running a 50% sale, I used puppy-dog eyes and a little sweet-talkin' that somehow worked (not the norm!) for Tracy to order for me a copy of Thomas Shreiner's New Testament Theology. I feel like a kid in line at the ice-cream shoppe waiting for it to arrive!
That makes me think of a few questions:
- Would you say that Shreiner has accurately summarized the theme of the NT ("Magnifying God in Christ")?
- What place do you feel that books like this should (or should not) have in our Christian development?
- When folks around us (and us!) are struggling with "real life" issues, what reasons would you give to them for taking on the challenge of reading through a theology book?
