"Let's Find Out!" by Jordan

On the opening page of Grace Church's latest Prayer Directory, the elders ask:

"What might God do in and through our little flock if we were to faithfully intercede for one another?"

Our high-expectation follows:

"Let's find out!"

Grace Church, we have a long way to go in becoming more like Christ. The battle for spiritual victory will not be won haphazardly. Let's get in the trenches for one another, and intercede fervently on one another's behalf!

Develop a Strategy

A few names per day. A page per day. Whatever your strategy, develop one. We need our spiritual family praying for us. Each of us. Consistently.

The prayer directory was designed with high hopes of catalyzing the congregation for (1) faithful intercession and (2) humble service. It was designed in order to fit inside the cover of your Bible so it could be a ready weapon for spiritual battle.

Encourage the Saints

On occassion after praying for some in your church family, let them know that you had the joy of interceding on their behalf. Yes, we are talking only to God in our prayer, and He works even when we tell no other. But the Bible is full of prayers that one person prayed for another. The New Testament epistles are replete with written-out prayers on behalf of the little flocks.

Why tell people when you've prayed for them? Because letting a brother or sister know you've taken them before the throne of God is one of the strongest means of spiritual encouragement.

Be Steadfast

All too often we will be awakened from the daze of spiritual stupor to realize we've been negligent of many spiritual duties, including faithful intercession. What should we then do? Repent, and return.

If you find yourself off schedule in your praying for one another, okay. Be glad you woke up to your neglect! Just don't stay there. Pray about it. Then pray for others. Then pray some more.

Let's Find Out

Referring back to that opening page of the Prayer Directory, what will be our response? Will we find out what God could do with a flock of Christ's people who faithfully intercede for one another? I hope so. We must! "When man works, man works. When man prays, God works."
