Though sin might remain in our mortal bodies, by faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus we can be killing sin, which has no right or reign over us, and may present ourselves to God as holy instruments of righteousness.

We must believe that we have been united with Christ in His death killing our old self and untied with Christ in His resurrection giving us new life so that by continued faith in the justifying work of Christ we might live free.
