Worship Preparation - "Things that Accompany Salvation" | Hebrews 6:9-12

Hosea 6:1 counsels: "Come, let us return to the LORD. For He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us." If you've been walking through Hebrews with us, that verse likely describes the current condition and needed prescription for your soul. The warning passages of Hebrews usually cause even the most eminent saint to be moved to fear and trembling. But God doesn't leave His people wounded. He afflicts only to end all self-reliance, and to draw us to His healing salve in Christ.

Last Sunday we faced one of the most severe warning passages in the bible (Heb 6:4-8), and saw the devastating peril of those who apostasize.

This Sunday we are faced with God's counsel for obtaining assurance of salvation (6:9-12) through possessing "things that accompany salvation." There are certain marks, or fruits, of salvation that necessarily spring forth from the good soil of a gospel-embracing heart.

I trust this Sunday's sermon will be a source of gospel balm for those whose hope is in Christ.

The prayer meeting passage for Sunday will be Galatians 2:11-14.

In the preaching service, we will be singing:

  • O My Soul, Arise and Bless Your Maker
  • Come Thou Fount
  • My Song is Love Unknown
  • Come Boldly to the Throne of Grace
  • All I Have is Christ
  • You Have Been Raised

The Lord tears and He wounds. But, to Him alone be all praise, He also heals and He bandages!

See you Sunday, DV
