More Than Notion - Thoughts on Experiential Christianity, Part II

More-Than-Notion.jpg

Those who are religious are often times in the greatest danger of becoming cold toward God. Outward show is no indication of inward love. When Jesus encountered a pack of religious leaders, his accusation was piercing:

"And He said to them, "Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me."'" (Mark 7:6-7).

These men had an abundance of right thoughts. They could talk a big game. Apparently they even spoke truth concerning Christ ("This people honors Me with their lips").

Friends, what you might be able to say is not the key question. The heart of the matter is always one of love. An inward, burning, real, desire for God in Christ remains the litmus test for your soul.

A regenerate soul sings with the Apostle, "Though I have not seen Him, I love Him" (1 Peter 1:8).
